Target score!

I am a total sucker for a good Target deal. I purposely make my way thru Target in a way so I walk by all the clearance areas.

Today I got a good one. I walked by an end cap right in the organizing section, it wasn’t even in the home decor area now that I think about it. There were a bunch of random items and among them I found this treasure!

Only $20.98, marked down from $69.99! There doesn’t seem to be anything wrong with it and it’s a beautiful print. Well at least I think so! It’s also just what I’ve been looking for so it’s not an unnecessary purchase.

Good goly Target, I love how you always keep me intrigued!

I just checked online and it’s still priced at $48.98!

I surely can’t wait to get it washed and on my bed!

Crash course in allergies!

It feels like I’m taking a crash course in allergies over the last 24 hours. Today Cooper had his 4th allergic reaction, to an unknown source and we are frantically trying to decipher what that source is.

Luckily the only reaction he is having are hives and they don’t seem to bother him at all. We are so lucky that there doesn’t seem to be any anaphylactic reaction. My brother has that to nuts and it is SCARE-EEEEE.

After his first reaction I started a food journal. I didn’t fully involve my husband and I think that kept me from really documenting everything he ingested. I stepped it up a bit today by labeling it with a post-it and also pulling out another notebook to take down any thoughts or notes or suggestions that come my way. I think this will help us keep our thoughts straight!

We have isolated the allergy to something he is eating since that is the only constant. It occurs after he eats something. There are no other factors that have been the same over all four reactions. Our laundry detergent has been suggested that as the culprit but that is not it. We have never changed their detergent since they were born. He had his first breakout then nothing for a week, all the while wearing clothing with that same detergent. Even our pediatrician said this morning that its not likely to be external causes.

For the meantime Benadryl resolves the situation but that is not a long term solution. Even after this last reaction it looked like it was taking longer and longer for the reaction to completely disappear. The first time it went away practically immediately.

We did see his pediatrician this morning and she gave us paperwork for a blood test. Thankfully we all went together as a family so we drove right over to the testing center and my husband went in with him to get the blood test. I just couldn’t witness my baby go thru that. Gabe returned and said Cooper never cried!! I am so proud of my little man.

Since its Valentine’s day and we felt super bad for Cooper we went to get donuts after. We gave each kid one donut hole on the drive home. As soon as we got home and walked in the house I noticed he was breaking out again. Hives on his face this time.

I immediately thought it was gluten. I don’t think that anymore since I remembered he had oatmeal for breakfast and no reaction to that.

After texting back and forth with a friend who has gone thru this many times over with her own son, I decided to call the pediatrician to get him an epi-pen. If his reactions continue to get worse, I certainly do not want to be caught without an epi-pen if my son is struggling to breath. She agreed and called in the prescription. Unfortunately the pharmacy does not have the specific epi-pen we want so we have to wait until Monday. Praying he doesn’t have a serious reaction between now and then!

The mystery continues!

Goodwill Scores

I’ve been wanting to go to our local Goodwill for a few weeks. There are so many YouTuber’s that score fantastic finds in their local Goodwill’s that I have been dying to check out ours.

Finally today I had some time and made a trek over there. It takes a bit of time to search thru the rows of merchandise that is often crowded on each shelf but it is so totally worth it.

The first thing I came across was housewares. I did have a shopping list of sorts going in and housewares wasn’t on it but I’m a sucker for cute plates.

These plates are from the Threshold line at Target. They are made out of Melamine which is a heavy duty plastic. I think they probably go for $3 – $4 each brand new. I’ve seen these designs before and totally contemplated buying them but not having a NEED for them I always passed. But for 49cents a pop, who can resist! I was able to score two plates in each design. They are PERFECT for outdoor use. I’m not a huge fan of this particular southwest look but for whatever reason I love the design on plates.

Right before Christmas I almost bought this plate at Target (or one really similar) but since my kids aren’t really understanding Christmas yet it seemed like a waste. This plate was also 49cents but the original sticker says it was $1.99 at Target. From the Holiday 2009 collection. Can’t wait to use it next year!

Okay, so I’m going to have to explain this next item. Hideous, no?! It’s a Filofax. Or should I say Filofax knock off. It’s hideous and never in a million years would I buy this product…except in this case. I bought it for what it contained within its god awful cover.Image

Filofax inserts. ‘Nuff said. Filofax inserts are expensive!  These have the same hole punches as my Personal sized Filofax and there are a number of inserts that I can use. I figured there was no way I could buy a flyleaf, dividers and a pocket for less than $2.99 online. Sold. The faux lizardskin(?) case is going straight back into our donate basket in the garage.

This is the only thing I actually had on my list to buy at Goodwill today. A hamper. I have a three section hamper for my clothing in the garage but recently have been washing all towels separately. So I needed something to contain them all. The pile atop the dryer just wasn’t doing it for me! 😉 So this hamper will sit nearby for all our towels and other various linens I don’t want to mix in with our clothing.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAAll in all, I spent $9.43 at Goodwill today. Under $10 for all that stuff. Pretty good day if I do say so myself. DoItOnADime on YouTube said it once, go into Goodwill with a list of what you are looking/hoping to find. It really helped in my case. It also allowed me to go straight to the areas I needed to look in rather then wander around aimlessly.
