Nails: Dining Al Frisco

There really isn’t a point to me painting my nails and posting about it other than that I want to share it. Painting my nails is never something I’ve been good at but I’m hoping to get better at it. Plus, with so many fabulous nail colors out there, how can I resist!

The last polish was looking a bit sad so I removed it and got out OPI’s Dining Al Frisco. Such a fun, electric blue. In fact, I went tonight to Target to pick up a top coat. I am so happy to see that Target now carries an OPI line (Nicole by OPI). I originally picked up the Dining Al Frisco color at Ulta because Organized Like Jen had reviewed it and really liked it.

I tried painting my left hand early in the day, while the kids were awake. The end result being all three of us having painted nails.

I didn’t get to paint my right hand until many hours later. Still total crap at painting my right hand. Maybe after a few weeks of doing this I’ll improve some.

20140705-213751-77871808.jpgEven my left hand is pretty crappy. My cuticules are getting lots better but still have a bit of healing to do. I worked more on removing the excess paint before calling it a day. I put the top coat on too soon. I should have done a second coat on some of the nails.

Lots of learning to do when it comes to painting my nails but at least I’m having fun!

Guest Bath Update

Over the Fourth of July weekend we made a trip to our local Target to pick up some much needed things. We happened by the wall decor section and I saw this beauty.

Instantly I pictured it over the toilet in our kids/guest bathroom. After living in this house 5 years, we had never been able to find the right shelving for that spot. By now I have memorized the ideal width of a shelf for that space (18″). The width of this piece? 19″! It was perfect!

Of course we couldn’t wait any longer and had it hung and decorated that same evening!

I’m really excited about how it turned out. It isn’t giving us a ton of extra storage but that is just fine. Our goal is to minimize, not just create space to stash more stuff.

Erin Condren Review

After a year and a half without an Erin Condren Life Planner (ECLP for short), I gave into temptation and purchased the newest edition that was released on June 12th. The demand for these is through the roof right now. People who waited just a few days to order are finding they have to wait weeks just to see their ECLP status move to “printing”! This makes me super glad I ordered on June 12th. I had been using a Filofax but quite frankly it just wasn’t working for me. I really enjoyed using my Erin Condren in 2013 and with the adjustments the company has made, I thought it was worthwhile to try it again.

I filmed an unboxing video when I received it, which you can watch HERE.20140626-072632-26792873.jpg

I’ve finally put all the parts into place, in just the way I like them and I wanted to post a nice long detailed review.

I went all out this time for the Foil Platinum planner. It comes with this pretty little elastic band to keep the planner together. I’m glad it comes automatically with the foil planners because I wasn’t about to shell out $6.95 for a set of 3 of these.

Each planner comes with a pouch in the back. Erin Condren Design claims you can easily move the pouch to the front by removing the front and back covers and moving it to the front. I did not find this to be the case. Instead I took the cover from my old planner, cut each hole and placed it in my new planner. I think if I tugged at it hard enough, it would probably come out pretty easily but otherwise it works well. I also plan to make use of the ruler from my old ECLP in some way.

The foil planners come with this first velum fly leaf page with the metallic party pops. It’s so simple but I just love this addition!

This is the very first week in the planner. I’m a minimalist when it comes to my planner although I did decorate a bit for the Fourth of July.

Since this weekly spread was already scribbled on, I wanted to show an untouched weekly spread.

Also, here is an untouched monthly spread. Honestly, I very rarely use these spreads, I’m trying to think of a way to make better use of them! Perhaps I’ll utilize it for my workouts, etc.

One of the additions EC made that I’m really excited about, is putting a tab on the Notes section. Last time I had to make my own with post-it flags. I am using this section for bill pay records, FlyLady schedules and other things.

The Keep It Together pocket was improved upon also, they increased the height of the side that attaches to the coil to keep the pocket intact longer.

Of course, here, at the end is the plastic pouch thats included with the planner. I plan to take these stickers out and use it for miscellaneous notes and business cards.

I discovered thru an Erin Condren group on Facebook that Target carries a Merona purse that will hold the ECLP perfectly! When I was in Target the other day I ended up picking it up in gray. You can find the purse HERE.

Target score!

I am a total sucker for a good Target deal. I purposely make my way thru Target in a way so I walk by all the clearance areas.

Today I got a good one. I walked by an end cap right in the organizing section, it wasn’t even in the home decor area now that I think about it. There were a bunch of random items and among them I found this treasure!

Only $20.98, marked down from $69.99! There doesn’t seem to be anything wrong with it and it’s a beautiful print. Well at least I think so! It’s also just what I’ve been looking for so it’s not an unnecessary purchase.

Good goly Target, I love how you always keep me intrigued!

I just checked online and it’s still priced at $48.98!

I surely can’t wait to get it washed and on my bed!

Goodwill Scores

I’ve been wanting to go to our local Goodwill for a few weeks. There are so many YouTuber’s that score fantastic finds in their local Goodwill’s that I have been dying to check out ours.

Finally today I had some time and made a trek over there. It takes a bit of time to search thru the rows of merchandise that is often crowded on each shelf but it is so totally worth it.

The first thing I came across was housewares. I did have a shopping list of sorts going in and housewares wasn’t on it but I’m a sucker for cute plates.

Image Image

These plates are from the Threshold line at Target. They are made out of Melamine which is a heavy duty plastic. I think they probably go for $3 – $4 each brand new. I’ve seen these designs before and totally contemplated buying them but not having a NEED for them I always passed. But for 49cents a pop, who can resist! I was able to score two plates in each design. They are PERFECT for outdoor use. I’m not a huge fan of this particular southwest look but for whatever reason I love the design on plates.

Right before Christmas I almost bought this plate at Target (or one really similar) but since my kids aren’t really understanding Christmas yet it seemed like a waste. This plate was also 49cents but the original sticker says it was $1.99 at Target. From the Holiday 2009 collection. Can’t wait to use it next year!

Image

Okay, so I’m going to have to explain this next item. Hideous, no?! It’s a Filofax. Or should I say Filofax knock off. It’s hideous and never in a million years would I buy this product…except in this case. I bought it for what it contained within its god awful cover.Image

Filofax inserts. ‘Nuff said. Filofax inserts are expensive!  These have the same hole punches as my Personal sized Filofax and there are a number of inserts that I can use. I figured there was no way I could buy a flyleaf, dividers and a pocket for less than $2.99 online. Sold. The faux lizardskin(?) case is going straight back into our donate basket in the garage.

Image

This is the only thing I actually had on my list to buy at Goodwill today. A hamper. I have a three section hamper for my clothing in the garage but recently have been washing all towels separately. So I needed something to contain them all. The pile atop the dryer just wasn’t doing it for me! 😉 So this hamper will sit nearby for all our towels and other various linens I don’t want to mix in with our clothing.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAAll in all, I spent $9.43 at Goodwill today. Under $10 for all that stuff. Pretty good day if I do say so myself. DoItOnADime on YouTube said it once, go into Goodwill with a list of what you are looking/hoping to find. It really helped in my case. It also allowed me to go straight to the areas I needed to look in rather then wander around aimlessly.
